After four series and thirty-two episodes, the Life’s A Game Radio Show is officially over.
And for the final episode, it’s a bit more of a retrospective for the show entire. There’s not too much game talk, but more about the industry itself at time, as well as a history of the show, and an extended thank you. It’s not the best send-off, but it’s a finale I’m happy with.

So here it is, Life’s A Game, and everybody’s having fun!
It’s the penultimate episode of the radio series before the permanent move into podcasting once again, and this time around everything is a little… Christmassy.

Well, in terms of the songs, anyway. When it comes to the topics discussed this week, it’s decidedly less like Christmas on the show. Why, this week there’s talk of Miyamoto’s retirement rumours, why EA might be turning evil again, Worms Crazy Golf, Nolan North and his potential oversaturation, and other stuff you should be checking out.

As for the soundtrack, well, that’s where it feels a little bit more festive. Reminder: None of the songs show up in the download, so links to youtube videos are below. :)

The Amazing(ly Mundane) Adventures of Thor!

Thor slammed the table in anger, reducing it to plywood and splinters in the blink of an eye, to the shock of those around him.
“We’re sorry Thor, we just didn’t think it was that big a deal!“
“HOW DARE YOU?!” Thor boomed, before mumbling “Someone could have at least asked…“
“Thor, I just don’t see why we can’t just put a bowl out, to be honest.“
“ARE YOU MAD?! And just let all the other birds get to the food freely?! Their mortal bodies require sustenance!“
“I just think that if you really cared, you’d have bought them something bigger than a mini-feeder. And how many hummingbirds do you see around here anyway?“
Thor paused in thought, then stomped on the broken remains of the table for emphasis before storming out of the room in a huff, slamming the door off of its hinges. He didn’t want to admit defeat, but his remarkably patient girlfriend had a point. Still, he’d paid good money for that mini hummingbird feeder, and he wasn’t going to let his first purchase on this mortal Earth go to waste! Steeping out into the fresh air, Thor set out to find the bird feeder…
…and was immediately hit by a garbage truck.
Thor cursed his inability to look both ways before crossing as he hit a nearby lamppost head-first, ripping it off of its foundations and sending it crashing into the ground below. Making his way back onto his feet, Thor saw the twisted, mangled wreckage of the truck and set about dismantling it. Unfortunately, the crash had left him feeling slightly groggy, and he accidentally slipped into the back of the truck. Pulling off the discarded banana peels and household rubbish, Thor realised that he may have met his match. Besides, this truck had come from the other side of town! Thor readied himself and set out for the dump, where his latest epic task awaited.

Intermission: Thor and the Letter to the Council.
To whom it may concern,
THOR IS DISPLEASED!
Thor has been living inside his giant Babushka doll since he arrived on this planet of mortals, and now you wish to banish him from his new home?! Thor thinks you would be much more hesitant to evict Thor if you knew who his father was. This mortal form requires residence!
Does your council of weaklings not know who I am? Thor thinks you must, and that this must be a practical joke. Rest assured, if you or your puny council wish to part Thor from his Babushka home, they best be prepared to meet Mjolnir!

And now back to our feature presentation!

After a half hour of frantic searching, Thor still couldn’t find a sign of his feeder… but he did find a perfectly fine sofa that someone had carelessly thrown out that would look great in his living room! Resolving to come back for it another time, he continued his valiant quest with haste. Striding past the mounds of long-forgotten waste, Thor knew that it was only a matter of time before he found what he was looking for, and then he could return home triumphant, able to feed hummingbirds once more. He contemplated the glorious scenario in his head, once again that day neglecting to look where he was going, causing him to walk straight into the trash compactor. As he realised what he had done, the machine slowly whirred into life and begun it’s slow, inevitable crushing. As the walls begun to close in on him, Thor’s incredibly entertaining and action-packed life flashed before his eyes before his rather anti-climactic death. Truly, only a deus ex machina could save him. At that moment, Thor realised that he was in fact a God, and that he was actually inside a machine. The irony caused him to fly into a potent rage, smashing the compactor to bits seconds before it was to crush him into a cube. Sparks and trash flew everywhere as Thor screamed to the heavens in anger. However, something out of the corner of his eye gave him pause. It may have been slightly damp, but it was the unmistakable sign of his mini hummingbird feeder! And even better, it was still inside the sealed box it came in! Thor blessed his luck, and rejoiced in his victory over the evil denizens of the Sanitation Department as he strolled out of the dump and homeward bound, feeder in hand, the world saved yet again.
There was to be a feast at the Thor residence tonight.

Yes, Life’s A Game is back again with it’s fifth episode, and what an episode it is! Why, we have plenty of game discussion for you, with this week covering the gamut of Mario Kart 7, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, Skyward Sword and having too many games to play, who really won between Call of Duty and Battlefield 3, Minecraft, Skyrim, Proving the industry wrong, and Sony’s inability to learn lessons with the Playstation Vita!

Speeding through the wreckage left by the holiday release schedule and giving you an extra chance to cause more mayhem, Life’s A Game is now halfway through the final series with the release of episode four!

So what gaming goodness do we look at this week? Well, this week has a mix of summer goodness and recent releases! There’s Chu Chu Rocket!, Hard Lines, looking at game narratives done right and game endings done wrongly with Bastion, why From Dust was such a disappointing title and the problem with God games, the new Jurassic Park game, Heavy Rain (No, I can’t let it go, sorry), and finally some Skyward Sword.

Careening onto the path of finality, the last series of Life’s A Game takes a stop at episode three, and boy do we have a show for you!

Life’s A Game Series 4 Episode 1 – 4th November 2011 – Click this link and then download when prompted.

Ah, so here it is. The final series of Life’s A Game on student radio.
Can it be? Truly, does the twilight begin here?

Well, yes it does. Welcome to the first of the final stretch with another show talking about the wider world of videogames. Back refreshed from a a long summer away from the radio waves and shouting into the abyss that is the internet with the amazing Life’s A Game podcasts, episode one does what it can to deliver my latest rants and opinions on what’s been happening in videogames recently.

So what was covered this week around? Well, there’s the new Grand Theft Auto Five trailer and the series as a whole, Uncharted 3 and the problem of scoring reviews, Disney Universe, Final Fantasy 4, the Modern Warfare 3 controversy and a few more things to boot! There’s certainly some interesting one sided discussions going on that you’ll at the very least enjoy hearing!

I apologise for the poor sound quality of the episode. I’ve done what I can to fix it, but it’s still a bit problematic and for that I’m sorry. Hopefully future episodes will be free of any sound issues, but please bear with this episode, and I hope it doesn’t detract from the quality of the show or impact your listening too much.

Oh hai guys! Would you look at that? It’s the Life’s A Game Podcast!

But with that news comes a certain sadness. This will be the last LAG Podcast for the next couple of months.

Why?

Because next week will be the start of the last series of the Life’s A Game Radio Show!

That’s right, Life’s A Game will have one more radio series on WiredRadio.co.uk before saying farewell to the radio waves. All shows will be broadcast live on Wired Radio Fridays at 6pm (UK Time), and then available to download from this site over the weekend, so if you’re unable to listen live for whatever reason, then you’ll be able to listen to it later on without music. Excited? I know I am!

But I digress, back to the podcast.

As this is the final podcast for a while, I decided to do something a little different. So I grabbed my good friend Adam Freeman (host of the most excellent Gaminglives Podcast) and had a rather in-depth conversation with him about all things recent in gaming.
